이 장면을 읽기 전까지는, 필자 또한 괴물의 화려한 언변과 자기합리화에 빠져 괴물에 대한 동정심으로 가득 차 이야기를 읽어내려가고 있었다. 그러나 필자는 한 장면에 의한 편견으로 인하여 괴물을 그야말로 악한 존재로 생각하며 책을 읽어나갔다. 괴물은 태어났을 때 그야말로 무지 상태에서 Frankenstein 박사의 무책임으로 인해 주어진 외로움에 떠는 존재였던 것이다.
